Database Analyst

Job Description:

Kline, an international management consulting and market research firm, is looking for a Database Analyst for Kline's Database Products operations team. This technologist should have at least three (3) years of experience working with Microsoft business products, including Microsoft SQL Server database. Any experience with Microsoft Azure is a plus.

We are looking for an operations professional with software development programming skills. This position will require working as part of an international team primarily tasked with extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data to/from existing database applications.

Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Prerequisites:
  • Expertise with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (or higher), Transact-SQL (T-SQL), SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS); any experience with SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), Multidimensional Expressions (MDX), and/or CLR integration is a plus.
  • High-level of familiarity with common data transfer file formats for ETL functions: comma-separated values (CSV), tab delimited, pipe delimited, and Microsoft Excel (XLS; XLSX).
  • Good experience (2 years minimum) working with Microsoft Access.
  • Experience with Visual Studio and C# (6.0) language.
  • Experience with .NET Framework, LINQ, and/or Entity Framework.
  • Familiarity with Visual Studio Team Services, DevExpress, NUnit, and/or Sandcastle is welcome.
  • Flexibility to work with international team members partially overlapping with European and US business hours.
  • Earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.), or its equivalent, in Computer Science, an Engineering discipline, or Mathematics.


Responsibilities:

  • Design, test, and execute various data ETL tasks.
  • Generate ad-hoc reports for business stakeholders.
  • Maintain and update distinct database environments.
  • Maintain and update task lists.
  • Modify and/or enhance existing databases, including tables, keys, indexes, stored procedures, and/or user-defined functions; test all database enhancements before deployment.
  • Participate in pair programming, as applicable.
  • Participate in peer code reviews, as applicable.
  • Perform regular application testing.
  • Plan and create custom applications/tools for use in ETL functions, as applicable.
  • Routinely communicate directly with international members of the team including senior team members and business stakeholders, if applicable.
  • Self-guided training/skill enhancement with occasional training, as applicable and available.
