KMC Director/VP of Business Development, Manufacturing Competitiveness {Europe or United States}

Job Description:

Kline & Company is seeking a highly motivated individual for consideration as Business Development Director/VP in the Manufacturing Competitiveness Practice within our management consulting division. Our Manufacturing Competitiveness Practice primarily focuses on conducting proprietary competitive intelligence assessments of manufacturing operations and process technologies as well as supply chain on a global basis. Our focus is across chemical and related process industries, several industrial and consumer product sectors and medical devices industries, providing detailed manufacturing cost analysis, end-to-end supply chain, P&L assessment, comparative technology assessment and appraisal/implications for client.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the strategic planning, development of market share and implementation of business development initiatives to drive future business growth in the Manufacturing Competitiveness Practice globally.
  • Prepare the business plan for the practice.
  • Actively create leads, prospects potential clients, pursue leads, reinforce current client relationships and identify selling opportunities by aligning initiatives and proposals to potential/current clients’ strategic imperatives.
  • Develop/Leads all pitches, capabilities presentations, strategic and tactical ideas, and written proposals.
  • Achieve sales targets.
  • Conduct all prospective client meetings and deliver presentations.
  • Provide insight and leadership to internal team members to ensure timely delivery of services and quality project execution, including assisting with project execution and preparing deliverables when necessary.
  • Maintain and develop client relationships.
  • Develop and refine the scope of studies and client deliverables.
  • Assure content and quality of the studies. Work with the project team to prepare presentations and all supporting documentation.
  • Recommend, prepare and sell additional product/service lines.

Job Requirements:

  • A minimum of 7 years in business development for a consulting company; at least 10-15 years overall in the consulting industry in the chemicals and related manufacturing sectors.
  • Proven success selling consulting projects, products and services, each individually worth $200K and more.
  • Proven success independently managing the business development/sales process, writing and presenting proposals and closing deals and achieving sales targets.
  • Experience developing, managing and presenting project results to senior management.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a multinational team.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to manage, mentor, and motivate in a team environment to achieve results that meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Foreign language skills a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • B.S./B.A. required, preferably in Chemical Engineering and MBA or advanced degree preferred.
