Project Manager, Energy Practice

Job Description:

Kline & Company is seeking a highly motivated individual for a Project Manager position in the Energy Practice within our management consulting division, located in our Parsippany, New Jersey headquarters. Our Energy Practice primarily focuses on economic and strategic analysis of proprietary client-specific issues in the downstream oil value chain, most specifically related to base oils, lubricants and related by-products. Our work encompasses project feasibility and market studies, strategic planning, and transactional support in the M&A field, for clients around the world. This position will report to the Vice President, Energy, Kline Management Consulting.

Job Requirements:

Guide research process and deliverables of proprietary projects
  • Oversee and direct the efforts of individuals in the project team responsible for conducting research, preparing analysis, and developing conclusions which form part of client deliverables
  • Drive staff performance to successful completion of studies
  • Assure content and quality of the studies
  • Write/review reports for proprietary studies
  • Work with the project team to conduct analysis, develop appraisal and recommendations, prepare presentations and all supporting documentation
  • Present findings of project to client
Assist with growth and development of practice
  • Work with the VP and other leading members of the Energy Practice to develop/refine proposals in response to client requests, including scope, scheduling, budget, and client deliverables
  • Maintain and develop client relationships
  • Assist in the development of intellectual capital, including the creation of public domain articles or presentations
  • Attend select industry conferences
  • Assist with business development meetings and presentations
  • Identify enhancements to project deliverables and work processes
  • Develop the practice’s junior staff

Essential Job Requirements:

  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in the downstream oil industry, with specific expertise in the base oils and/or lubricants value chain
  • Prior work experience in consulting, preferably techno-economic or management consulting
  • Experience developing, managing and presenting project results to senior management, either internal or external
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a multinational team
  • Analytical, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • Ability to manage, mentor, and motivate others in a team environment to achieve results that meet or exceed client expectations
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required; MBA a plus
  • Willingness to travel
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Foreign language skills a plus
  • Good oral and written English language skills are required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
