Business Development Manager {The Americas}

Kline & Company is seeking a highly motivated, successful Business Development Manager to join our dynamic, international sales team. The BDM will be responsible for developing new business in the Americas territory.

The Business Development Manager (BDM) identifies and targets new prospective clients, brings back “lost” clients and discovers new client bases for Kline’s portfolio of market intelligence reports and custom research services. They will become an expert at presenting Kline’s capabilities, demonstrating the product portfolio and understanding the needs & pain points of prospective clients.  They adapt a win-win negotiation strategy and a consultative sales approach to build long-term relationships with the clients they develop. The BDM is a true hunter and a “people person” who gets energized by uncovering new opportunities, developing relationships and closing sales.

  • Working closely with the SDR to guide them on how to identify and qualify prospects
  • Reconnecting with “lost” clients to find ways to bring them back on board
  • Identifying and developing new client bases for our products and services
  • Applying multiple touchpoints to reach out to new and lost prospects (with the help of marketing and the SDR)
  • Conducting dynamic client pitches with strong, personalized proposals after identifying the prospect’s needs and pain points
  • Staying current on portfolio of offerings and industry trends and participating in live and online industry events
  • Working in Salesforce to accurately manage sales pipelines, leads, contacts and accounts
  • Building long-lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with external contacts (eg: associations, conference organizers, partners)


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field
  • Proven track record with 2-4 years of business development or account management using a consultative sales approach for market research, market intelligence or other related products
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Sales Navigator and Salesforce
  • Excellent written and spoken English; a second language, preferably Spanish, is a plus
  • Experience selling into the Consumer Products and/or Energy/Lubricants/Renewables industry is a plus

  • Ability to understand client needs and close sales by applying a consultative sales approach and a win-win negotiation strategy.
  • Positive attitude, intellectual curiosity, tenacity, drive and a friendly personality.
  • Ability to consistently “hunt” for new opportunities while managing and developing newly onboarded clients.
  • Self-motivated, well-organized team player who is comfortable working in a virtual office or hybrid work environment.
