Job Description:

Kline is currently seeking full-time consulting and market research professionals, who understand and have an interest in the petroleum industry, to join its Energy Consulting practice as Researcher, serving its global clients. The firm is seeking bright, enthusiastic, hard-working, and flexible individuals with the ability to work effectively across industry sub-segments and service offerings.

As a member of the Energy Consulting practice, the Researcher’s job entails carrying out econometric modelling and staying current on relevant issues and trends within the energy sector. It also involves developing industry and sector forecasting reports, insights on trends in an easy-to-understand and useful format by undertaking research to identify relevant market changes.

Energy Researchers are also responsible for utilizing various tools, including Excel, VBA, and MS Access, Power BI, SQL, and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), to collect and organize various energy data sources, develop analysis into processes, and improve existing processes in the organization. Further, familiarity and previous experience of work with any types of Information systems (like Bloomberg, Reuters, S&P, FactSet etc.) and Customs trade data will be a plus.

Candidates should understand the mechanics of the energy market (wholesale energy markets), be able to quantify the trends impacting the industry, and provide information that can aid commercial decisions. Prior experience or strong understanding of petroleum economics, pricing algorithms/influencing factors for petroleum products will be essential. 

Job Requirements:

Qualified candidates will have:

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Petroleum Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Business, or in a related field of study (Job opportunity is open to fresh college graduates as well).
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and conceptual problem-solving skills combined with outstanding business acumen.
  • An inquisitive mindset and mathematical grasp to deal with numbers and excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.

This position is currently home-office/remote-based but will eventually be based out of Kline’s India offices in either Hyderabad or Delhi.
