The professional skin care market registers a strong growth of about 7% in 2019, across key markets including China, Europe, India, and the United States, according to Kline’s recently published Professional Skin Care Global Series. All four markets register positive growth, with developing country India registering double-digit growth and Russia registering the highest growth in Europe.
The professional skin care market in China grows by nearly 6%, higher than the global market growth of 5% in 2017. China is also the largest market for professional skin care products, accounting for over 35% of the global sales in 2017. Boosted by the robust performance of the medical care providers and retail channels, the Chinese market records the highest growth since 2012.
The Chinese professional skin care market is highly fragmented, dominated by local brands, such as Amitabha, Chlitina, and Jourdeness, but also international players, such as SkinCeuticals, Decléor, and NeoStrata. Although accounting only for a little over one-tenth of the Chinese market, international brands continue to thrive, recording higher growth than local brands and advancing at a healthy rate of over 12%. Of all the brands, SkinCeuticals posts by far the highest growth of 100%, securing a place among the top five leaders in 2017.Continue reading
