Color, volume, texture, and more! Once again, the ISSE Long Beach show floor was brimming with fresh and previous exhibitors showing off their latest innovations and new product lines for the complex world of beauty. The aisles were bursting with industry representatives – hair stylists, nail stylists, and students galore, eager to see the latest product novelties. This year, the common theme throughout the show seemed to be the extras –hair extensions, nail accessories for any and every occasion, decked out hair appliances, and oodles of glittery headbands.
Brazilian Blowout’s booth was full of action, jam-packed with spectators for their non-stop shows with creative hairstyles and radiant colors based on its popular hair treatment lines. Hairlocs, a U.S. company featuring four systems to attach hair extensions, had a big booth, offering free hair extensions installation with any hair purchase. With the promise to “never break a client’s hair,” Olaplex, a new addition to the hair color world in 2014, showed its two-step professional treatment that prevents hair damage from coloring by building stronger bonds. Free of silicones and oils, Olaplex’s No.1 Bond Multiplier is a color additive that is added to a lightener or color to strengthen the strands from the inside. To protect and eliminate breakage, Olaplex’s No.2 Blond Perfector is applied after the color is rinsed out.
As expected, there was also a large number of nail care manufacturers present at the ISSE show. Orly launched a new smudge-resistant two-step polish system t advertised to last up to one week. Morgan Taylor, a younger professional nail care brand, showed off Cinderella, a whimsical collection of fairytale shades. Drawing upon the Universal’s movie release “Fifty Shades of Grey,” OPI, the professional nail care market leader, revealed its limited-edition of six colors – five shades of gray, ranging from smoky and sparkling, to seductive and romantic red.
