Last week, we attended MCB by Beauté Sélection in Paris, an emblematic show for beauty professionals willing to showcase their latest innovations and product novelties. Heavily focused on hair, most exhibitors were hair care suppliers followed by those promoting hair tools and electric devices. A large and increasing number of exhibitors were represented by hair salon software providers, since a recent regulation obliges all hair salons in France to digitalize and centralize their accounts. So far, 60% of hair salons are yet to be digitalized in France.
Workshops, demonstrations and presentations took place all day during the three days; this year, the fair put a spotlight on topics such as products made in France or vegetal color products. Many suppliers highlighted the natural qualities of their hair products, including Fauvert Professionnel, with a VHS Vita Hydro System line that claims between 74% and 99% of natural ingredients; Farmagan’s Bioactive line, comprised of between 85% and 95% of natural ingredients; and Sublimo, with its newly launched Natural CC Coloring Care line, emphasizing 96% of natural ingredients. This is also confirmed by our recently published Salon Hair Care Global Series study, which shows that natural professional hair care products are on the rise, increasing more than 5% in France in 2017.
Among the new launches introduced at the fair, we spotted the new patented ingredient of Moroccanoil called the “Argan ID” and new patented technology called “Colorlink” with ambition to become a new type of bond builder. Another product attracting our attention was powder shampoo launched by Rodolphe & Co., whose products are composed of minerals.
Last but not least, a United Arab Emirates brand called Hair Passion launched a new generation of permanent color called Keratin Infused SystemS (KISS). This new technology allows users to achieve colors that have not been possible before. The new pigments, along with Hair Passion specially formulated boosters, allow permanent results for today’s fashion-conscious clients. With KISS, hair is left restructured and in optimum condition.
