Laundry operations are undergoing a transformation. Our latest survey of 500 laundry professionals reveals that priorities are shifting rapidly, with sustainability, automation, and efficiency at the forefront of decision-making. These insights highlight not only where the industry is heading but also how suppliers are responding with innovation.
Sustainability Is No Longer Optional
One of the strongest findings is the demand for eco-friendly laundry products. Among the professionals surveyed:
41% already use waterless or eco-friendly detergents
33% use them occasionally
24% would consider adopting them in the future
Nearly half (47%) are willing to pay more for sustainable solutions, and 72% believe green products will be a requirement within the next 1–2 years.
This clearly signals that sustainability is now a business imperative, not just a consumer preference.
Green Cleaning Product Innovations
Suppliers are quickly adapting to meet these evolving needs:
Church & Dwight’s Arm & Hammer Power Sheets: Concentrated dissolvable detergent sheets that cut plastic waste.
Procter & Gamble’s Tide Professional Cold-Water Detergent: Enzymatic technology allows effective cleaning at lower temperatures, reducing energy and water use.
Renegade Laundry’s NanoX Detergent: A biodegradable formula that naturally breaks down while maintaining cleaning power.
These solutions prove that eco-friendly doesn’t mean compromising on performance.
Automation and IoT in Laundry Operations
Another emerging priority is automation. IoT-enabled solutions are helping professionals manage resources more effectively.
For example, Hydro Systems’ Hydro Connect software provides real-time data such as:
Number of loads
Volume of chemicals and water used
Maintenance alerts and anomaly detection
For commercial laundries, hospitals, hotels, and other high-volume facilities, this data-driven approach means cost savings, efficiency, and reduced downtime.
