Kline & Co. took those words to heart on this year’s Earth Day, with teammates across the globe coming together to celebrate and, following the event’s official 2023 theme, “invest in our planet.” Here’s a recap of our endeavors:
PRAGUE
Kline made part of the area greener by volunteering at Domov Palata, an organization that provides services to people who can no longer live in their own homes due to visual impairments. Organized by Analyst Carlos Galan, the event saw our Prague office clean up the garden’s vineyard area with lots of raking, pruning, and mowing.
“It was an enjoyable, enriching experience — the perfect way for us to spend time with colleagues and help an organization that does such important work,” Carlos says.
LONDON, INDIA, AND BEYOND
Inspired by the BBC Radio 2 gardening podcast Let it Grow, Energy Team Coordinator Andrianne Philippou launched our first-ever “Seeds Across the Seas” initiative, which encouraged Kline cohorts in both London and Gurgaon to embark on a global planting, cultivating, and nurturing exercise.
“We supplied all our teammates with seeds and asked them to transform gray cracks and crevices into something wild and colorful — using every pot, planter, container, or spare space — to plant something and give it life,” says Andrianne. “The bonus: Not only are we cultivating beautiful flora, herbs, and vegetables, but our efforts will help attract pollinators and wildlife too.”
Meanwhile, Kline WFH staff members from around the world did their part to make life a little greener – some performed local volunteer work, while others planted seeds, picked up trash, gardened, or gathered with nearby coworkers to mark the occasion.
UNITED STATES
In what might be a new tradition, staffers from our New Jersey headquarters headed to The Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morristown for the second year in a row. And while assisting Mother Earth was key – the crew worked all morning mulching — this year’s Earth Day had very special significance: the planting of two magnolia trees in memory of longtime staff members Dilip Chandwani and Joanne Nardella, who died in mid-2022 and early 2023, respectively. Dilip, who served as the senior leader of consulting services for Process Industries, was part of the Kline family for 32 years. Joanne, our Director of Accounting, spent 40 years at Kline.
“They were both very dear to us, and everyone was happy that we’ll have an everlasting tribute to them,” says Director of Beauty and Wellbeing Karen Doskow, who organized the event. “It made this year’s Earth Day extra special.”
