Why is India a Hotspot for Professional Beauty Brands?

Highlights from Professional Beauty India 2024 in Delhi

India has been at the forefront of the professional beauty industry growth. In the professional hair care space, sales increased by over 150 USD between 2018 and 2023, as many key international players chose this territory as critical to their development. Currently, L’Oréal, the biggest professional hair care player globally, leads this market by far with an over 60% market share.

Professional Beauty India is a well-recognized event whose 28th edition happened in Delhi on July 1 and 2, 2024. Representing Kline, Yankita Garid took part in this vibrant showcase that highlighted the beauty industry’s dynamic and innovative spirit. This gathering brought together professionals and enthusiasts alike, offering a glimpse into the future of beauty. Here are some of the standout features of the event:

A Diverse Range of Products: The event gathers all types of players in the professional beauty industry including hair care, makeup, skin care, and nail care brands. It provided attendees with the opportunity to explore a wide array of products, all under one roof, making it a one-stop destination for beauty professionals and enthusiasts.

Sustainability Efforts: Davines‘ participation was particularly noteworthy for its minimal use of plastic at the stall. As a first-time attendee, Davines set a high standard for environmental responsibility, aligning with the growing consumer demand for sustainable practices within the beauty industry. Davines displayed its newly launched range for men, Pasta & Love, offering styling and beard care products. The company is a key player in the professional hair care and skin care space and has dynamically developed its sales across many markets as one of the leaders in sustainability efforts, expanding from a small family-owned business into a global player competing directly with industry leaders. Its undertakings are closely monitored in our Professional Hair Care and Professional Nail Care series.

Promotions: Among product novelties, Beauty Garage displayed its new product, Collagen Filler Treatment- Shea 18-MEA, which incorporates AIS Technology to instantly bind 18-MEA to the hair cuticle, aiming to improve hair structure and resilience. Moreover, milk_shake had an attractive display at its stall and launched a new product, Deep Detox Shampoo, designed to remove impurities from hard water and buildup from styling products, utilizing Camellia Sinensis (green tea leaves) and milk proteins.

Introduction of New Brands: The event served as a platform for new entrants such as Proads Professional and 3tenx, showcasing the industry’s openness to innovation and new ideas. 3tenx’s distribution of samples from its Ultimate Revitalize range was a smart strategy to engage directly with professionals and demonstrate the efficacy of their products.

Creative Displays: Among displays that stood out, Streax Professional, a strong local player in professional hair color, showcased the Hold & Play funky colors range, shining a spotlight on the creative possibilities in hair coloring and styling. It was marked as an inspiring display for professionals eager to broaden their offerings with more personalized, expressive colors.

Scalp Care and Profit Maximization: A discussion held on the topic “Special services” included a panel discussing how salon businesses can maximize their profit margins with premium scalp care services. This panel discussion was spot on with a professional hair care market segment that has been highly trending up. Professional scalp care products are up 14.5% globally, well above the overall professional hair care growth. Kline tracks this dynamic segment in our Salon Hair Care series, as well as the Professional Scalp Care study dedicated to this topic.

In summary, Professional Beauty India 2024 in Delhi was a testament to the beauty industry’s resilience, creativity, and commitment to excellence. It offered a unique blend of product discovery, learning opportunities, and networking, setting the stage for future trends and innovations in the beauty world. Kline’s research on professional beauty reveals that India will remain one of the key growth markets; hence, Professional Beauty India remains an important event to keep a close eye on this fast-developing market.
