Last week, team Kline joined hundreds of industry professionals and enthusiasts in New Orleans at the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Annual Meeting to explore the future of aesthetic skin care. “The exhibit hall was vibrant,” says Dana Kreutzer, Project Lead in our Beauty and Wellbeing sector. “It featured the latest products, services, and clinical studies from over 350 exhibitors, including those offering aesthetic skin care products, devices, pharmaceuticals, practice management, and more.”
At the show, we engaged with our partners to learn about their new business initiatives, understand what’s on their radar, and brainstorm fresh ideas for our upcoming research. Here are our key takeaways from the show:
- L’Oréal and CP Skin Health Group showed the strength of their skin care portfolio in terms of overall booth footprint, unifying brands, and the number of staff on hand to answer questions. This was the first year that Skin Better Science was part of the L’Oréal Dermatological Beauty booth alongside SkinCeuticals and other dermocosmetic brands CeraVe and La Roche-Posay. Similarly, EltaMD, PCA Skin, and Filorga united at the show for the first time under the newly formed CP Skin Health Group name.

- The buzziest new brands at the show were Gladskin, under Europe’s biotechnology company Micreos, and Crown Aesthetics’ new Biojuve. Gladskin’s direct-to-consumer line has been available in the U.S. market for two years. The brand is now introducing higher-strength products for consumers with inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema to the physician-dispensed market under GladskinMD. Meanwhile, Biojuve was promoting its proprietary XcrobeTM Technology and line of skin biome care products.

- Brands are ramping up their international expansion. Japan is becoming an important market for many brands. Alastin, part of the Galderma family, is taking the brand to Mexico and hosted an official launch party at AAD.

- Market leader, ZO Skin Health, introduced a new cleansing product, Balancing Cleansing Emulsion, and debuted a brand refresh with a new tagline “Commit to Your Skin.” Other companies that we met with also teased some upcoming updates to their branding and packaging.
