A record-breaking turnout of nearly 20,000 dermatologists converged in South Beach, FL, this past weekend for the American Academy of Dermatology annual meeting. Dermatologists furthered their knowledge of aesthetic practices through attending “Scientific Sessions.” One such session included a live aesthetic demonstration with commentary from well-known cosmetic docs Mary Lupo, Jeffrey Dover, David Goldberg, and Fredric Brandt.
The exhibit hall was bustling with everything from demonstrations of new lasers and facial contouring technology to ways to address tattoo removal and new products from professional skin care companies. Doctors lined up to receive samples of the latest products from brands such as La Roche Posay for the treatment of rosacea, as well as to learn about a soon-to-be released new Anthelios tinted sun care protection product.
One of the most popular booths was for L’Oréal’s Dermablend. At this booth, Zombie Boy, covered with tattoos from head to toe, demonstrated the flawless coverage the line produced on a portion of his face.
Skin care marketers chatted about a variety of topics from what the potential distribution gains could be for SkinMedica under its new parent, Allergan, the maker of injectibles Juvederm and Botox, to how to better to team up skin care brands with laser companies for pre- and post-procedure care.
The 72nd annual meeting will be held in the Mile-High City of Denver, CO, next March.
