Professional Beauty London’s first-ever hybrid event drew fewer attendees than in pre-COVID days, but it still wowed with a variety of offerings.
“The show hosted an online day on April 5, allowing visitors and exhibitors to virtually connect via educational sessions and live Q&A opportunities,” says Yann Pencole, Vice President of Management Consulting Services in our Consumer Products division. “Some exhibitors didn’t hide their disappointment at the turnout — a few even mentioned that it may have been 50% fewer visitors in comparison to the pre-COVID years. Some brands, such as Elemis, even decided to not exhibit this year. But there was still plenty to enjoy.”
Key exhibitors from various sectors of the beauty industry, mainly skin care, beauty and medical devices, nails, lashes, makeup, and spa, were on hand to demonstrate and showcase their latest innovations. In the skin care arena, brands such as Guinot, Phytomer, and Dermalogica were present.
Meanwhile, beauty and medical devices came from the likes of Candela, Artemis, Lynton, and Opatra. Here are a few that caught Pencole’s eye:
The Dome Facial Analyser from Opatra
Designed for medical and aesthetic skin care professionals, Opatra’s device measures the surface and subsurface of the skin using digital imagery, RGB visible light, PL polarized light, and UV-spectrum imaging technology, combined with artificial intelligence and image analysis. The skin analyzer system captures multispectral photos of the face, examining the complexion for fine lines and wrinkles, spots, pores, texture, porphyrins, UV spots, moisture, and pigmentation.
Synergy Face by Opatra
This device offers a facial treatment of LED light with heat therapy; it combines infrared, green LED and red LED light therapy, which can improve and boost the skin’s appearance and texture and help reduce pain. According to Opatra, the red light stimulates fibroblasts that produce collagen, which helps the skin’s youthful appearance. With the application of Opatra’s anti-aging serums and creams, the red light also helps penetrate the product into deeper layers of the skin, reaching the dermis while helping to improve blood circulation, expression lines, and regenerating cell connections. The green light acts to improve cell and oxygen utilization, targeting dark circles, pigmentation, broken capillaries, and sunspots. It also calms irritated or overstimulated skin.
The Nordlys System from Candela
The system features a quartet of technologies. First, the Ellipse IPL boasts Unique IPL with narrowband technology defined by dual filters and sub-millisecond pulses; it offers skin rejuvenation and vascular treatments, as well as hair removal. The Frax 1550 offers non-ablative fractional treatment for skin resurfacing. Frax 1940 is for shallow resurfacing, reaching the epidermis and superficial dermis. And, finally, Nd:YAG 1064 is designed to treat vascular lesions, including leg veins and port wine stains.
