The soon-to-be-published Professional Nail Care: Global Market Brief report reveals another year of strong growth for this highly dynamic market. Long-wear nail polish (also called hybrid nail polish) is definitely the rock star, experiencing a triple-digit increase in 2015! This revolutionary growth is due to the category’s newness, which, despite its relatively small size, helped boost sales of the overall professional nail care market. Started in 2013 by Vinylux from CND (Revlon) and followed by many key players in the industry launching their own versions, this new product type promises a gel-like effect for up to 10 days without the need of an UV and LED lamp to dry it.Other notable products include OPI’s Infinite Shine, Jessica’s Phenom, and All Week Long from European player LCN. The category has become so important that we have begun to report it separately in the newest edition of the report.Continue reading

The company also failed multiple times at acquiring Brazil’s direct seller Jequiti. Coty finally made some inroads in 2013 by establishing a joint-venture with Frajo, a local Brazilian cosmetics distributor, but still desired a more potent move.Continue reading

Fall is by far one of the best times of the year when it comes to nails, trying new polish colors and even nail designs. With Halloween just a few days away, what better way to get into the spirit than by stepping up your nail game? From autumnal shades of gray, brown, and green to darker, chilly tones with funky painted pumpkins, spooky ghosts, jack-o-lanterns, and, of course, spider webs, Halloween nail art is creative, fun, and never boring.
As expected, most professional nail care manufacturers are introducing new, special Halloween collections, surprising us with unique colors and glitter finishes, and this year is no exception.Continue reading
Two parts professional hair, nails, and tools, one part cosmetics and personal care, and a dash of wellness and spa, and you’ve got the formula for success at Cosmoprof North America 2014. While certainly less controversial than Walter White’s coveted recipe, some of this year’s exhibiters have cooked up concoctions featuring elements from the periodic table that are almost as fascinating.Continue reading
