Demand for international brands and high-quality products has created a favorable environment for beauty brands, particularly in the professional sector, to expand their presence in India.
The 2023 edition of Cosmoprof India reaffirmed the vibrancy of the country’s economy, reporting a significant surge in both exhibitor and visitor numbers. Swarup Chakrabarty, Senior Analyst in our Beauty and Wellbeing sector, was among the attendees, and below are his key takeaways from the major segments covered in the event—skin care, hair care, and nail care.
Professional Hair Care
Streamline India Pvt. Ltd, the exclusive distributor of Kevin.Murphy and Olaplex, had a prominent booth at the entrance of the hall, capturing the attention of attendees. During the show, Olaplex introduced Volumizing Blow Dry Mist, while Kevin Murphy launched three new products—KILLER.CURLS WASH, KILLER.CURLS RINSE, and KILLER.TWIRLS. Notably, Olaplex’s 4-IN-1 Moisture Mask earned recognition as the best hair care product at the Cosmoprof India Awards 2023.
Meanwhile, local professional brand Beauty Garage also made a significant impact at the show, drawing attention with its latest offering, Scalp Sense—a soothing leave-in treatment. The brand stands out for its diverse range of hair treatment solutions, featuring ingredients such as shea butter, argan oil, Botox, collagen, and keratin.
The “skinification” of hair emerges as a key trend gaining traction in India, with companies continuing to develop products formulated with active ingredients. One example is Beauty Gang’s Botoplastia, which utilizes active ingredients such as Botox and Plastia to transform hair at a genetic level. Additionally, Prohall Cosmetic also launched its professional range during the show, including professional-grade Brazilian protein treatments enriched with ingredients such as lactic acid and hyaluronic acid.
Professional Skin Care
This year’s event witnessed many professional skin care brands from overseas. Liberty Belle Rx Skincare, founded by the renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Chris Moss in Melbourne, Australia, unveiled a complete range of skin care solutions, encompassing serums, moisturizers, cleansers, sun protection, eye treatment, as well as face masks.
Korean companies are also making inroads into the India market. C.L Medisys, for instance, introduced a wide range of skin care products that address skin conditions such as acne, scarring, redness, aging, and melasma. Similarly, Skinmax Biotech launched a series of serums and lotions targeting aging, hydration, and post-operative care. Wizmedi Korea diversified its offerings by introducing products in the medical aesthetics field, including a cosmeceutical line alongside Botox and fillers.
Adding to innovations, Miti Systems, Inc. introduced the IntoDerma Hyaluron Micro Crystal Essence skin care formula, which was also the winner of “Innovative Technology” at the show.
Professional Nail Care
The nail care section of the show also experienced a wave of new launches. Making its debut appearance at the event, Mia Secret introduced several new products. The Gel Bottle seized the opportunity to unveil its highly acclaimed Builder In A Bottle gel collection, a global bestseller. Particularly noteworthy Juice Cosmetics, a local brand, stood out with its newly launched Nugel range—a non-UV nail paint—which drew attention among the innovations in the industry.
Lastly, sustainable packaging was another focal point of interest. Most exhibitors at Cosmoprof India 2023 were private-label and/or contract manufacturers of sustainable packaging solutions. Some of the notable packaging solutions trending at the show were PCR packaging, bamboo packaging, biomass-based, and refillable packaging.
